Since moving to Medford in 2015, Michael and I have enjoyed documenting this annual community event. The short video of the hour-long parade is a testament to its unique floats and participants. Although numerous school bands are involved, we featured the fantastic South Medford High School band, under the direction of Erik Osberg, as the musical backdrop. This marks the 73rd year for the parade, which debuted in 1954 with only 10 floats. Past grand marshals included John F. Kennedy in 1960 and Leonard Nimoy as Spock in 1967. Today, the Pear Blossom Parade features 150 plus entries and over 4,000 participants with an estimated 25,000 people loudly lining the parade route.
